Chapter 6 overview
What Lies Beneath is the first chapter built around a stalking threat. Sophia is separated from the crew and has to move through the dark with only light sources as safe zones. The chapter introduces the Creature, the Minoan Machinery puzzles and Daedalus' shortcut, and it quietly slots the Sica into your arsenal.
Walkthrough by subchapter
| Subchapter | What happens |
|---|---|
| Lost | Sophia is separated and alone in the dark. The chapter establishes the survival tone before the Creature appears. |
| The Creature | The light-fearing monster is introduced. Stay near light, control your dust and avoid detection. |
| False Hope | A bait section: a safe-looking area that tightens around the Creature's patrol. |
| Minoan Machinery | The skull statue and machinery puzzles, including the beam sequence that opens the Sica tomb. |
| The Architect | Daedalus' shortcut section, with the Theseus vision and the second Pierced Coin. |
The Creature: stealth and survival rules
The Creature is an amorphous, snake-like being that absorbs the blue dust Sophia sheds as she moves. When it detects enough dust it lunges toward the source. The safe rules are simple:
- Near a light source you are safe. Treat light as a checkpoint of safety.
- Away from light, move slowly, walk or crouch to reduce the dust trail.
- Use cover and tight gaps. Squeezing through cracks or crossing gaps visibly slows the Creature.
- Do not sprint unless the level is forcing a chase.
This is the pattern the later hunted chapters reuse, so it is worth learning here instead of panicking through it.
Puzzles: the skull statue and the mirrors
The core puzzle opens the Sica tomb. With the sphere in beam mode, hit the green gem at the statue's base, aim the red beam at the far pillar reflector, then drop the blue beam straight down. The base opens and the Sica is inside.
The secondary puzzle is in the Find a Way to the Surface stretch: smash the wooden crates to expose mirrors, then aim the beam to dissolve the petrified stone blocking the path. If a mirror looks useless, check the crates near it.
Collectibles in Chapter 6
| Type | Name | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Blade | Sica | Skull statue tomb. Perk: Focus Rush, kills with this blade refill the Focus gauge. |
| Artefact (Relic of the Past) | Minoan Queen | Right-side cave near a grapnel point; jump back across to the other bank to reach it. |
| Artefact (Relic of the Past) | Corrupted Mosaic | After the stairs, the second passage on the right, on the floor inside the open door. |
| Charm | Seal (3) | Break the second wooden crate next to the one that hides a mirror; the chest is underneath. |
| Charm | Bead (3) | Climb the large wreck blocking an opening; the chest is on the opposite side. |
| Charm (Theseus Echo) | Pierced Coin (2) | Inside Daedalus' shortcut door, interact with the ceremonial bowl to trigger the Theseus dialogue. |
Daedalus' shortcut and the Theseus vision
Sophia finds the key device on Daedalus' arm and uses it to open the shortcut door. Inside, the Theseus vision plays a conversation between Theseus and Daedalus, and the ceremonial bowl gives you Pierced Coin 2. The shortcut is the lore payoff for the chapter and the reason the Architect subchapter exists.
Missables and trophy notes
All six collectibles are recoverable through chapter select. The chapter feeds Plunderer (Sica), Hoarder (2 Artefacts), Superstitious (3 Charms) and In the Name of my Kin (Pierced Coin 2). The Sica's Focus Rush makes it a strong pick for the following chapters, since more Focus means more special attacks in the arena fights.
Chapter 7, Death It Sowed, follows with the Third Trial, the Khopesh Blade and the first real boss in Cercyon.
FAQ
How do I avoid the Creature?
Stay close to light sources, because the Creature detects the blue dust Sophia sheds when she moves. Away from light, use cover, walk or crouch to shed less dust, and use gaps and tight squeezes to slow it down.
Where is the Sica Blade?
In the tomb under the skull statue. Use the sphere's beam mode: green beam on the statue's base, red beam to the far pillar reflector, then blue beam straight down to open the tomb.
How many collectibles are in Chapter 6?
Six: the Sica, 2 Artefacts (Minoan Queen, Corrupted Mosaic) and 3 Charms (Seal 3, Bead 3, Pierced Coin 2).
Is Chapter 6 a combat chapter?
Mostly no. The chapter focuses on evasion and puzzles, with fewer traditional soldier fights than Chapters 4 and 5.
