Chapter 7 overview
Death It Sowed covers the Third Trial and the Black Temple. The chapter moves from the approach through the battlefield, into the skull stage, and ends with the Cercyon duel. It is also the chapter where the missable Resonance Point rule becomes visible: guides explicitly warn that the points here do not follow you through chapter select.
Walkthrough by subchapter
| Subchapter | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approaching the Trial | The route to the Third Trial entrance, including the light-beam gate and the dying Sergio scene. |
| The whole damn army | The open battlefield after the underground stretch. This is where the Khopesh sits, left at the bull pillar. |
| A stage of skulls | The Black Temple interior with the skull button sequence and the locked green gate. |
| The beach (interlude) | A short scene between the battlefield and the temple, with a Charm in the chest beside the boat. |
Eurogamer's walkthrough frames the chapter as 14 numbered steps, from entering the trial through opening gates, the Theseus rivals duel, the Cercyon fight and the arrival at the labyrinth. The subchapter names above are allthings.how's structure, and both maps describe the same route.
Puzzles and light mechanics
| Puzzle | Solution | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Cave light-beam gate | Use the two levers to make the beam a straight line, then the second mirror reflects it to the green floor plate. Stand on the plate and hold the sphere button while rotating to align the three colours. | Sphere + levers |
| Black temple skull buttons | Press the buttons in this order: 4th column (far right), 3rd column, 1st column (far left), 2nd column. Use Reveal Light to show the sequence. | Reveal Light |
| Temple inner door | Combine the submerged pedestal, the ceiling lens, the hidden skull button and the movable reflector, using Reveal and Splitting Light to open the door. | Reveal + Splitting Light |
The three puzzles share the crank-lens and podium system that the game has been building since Chapter 4. The skull button order is the one people search for, so if you are stuck in the temple, that table row is the answer.
Combat and the Cercyon boss
The chapter has multiple soldier waves after the gate, at the temple door and in the corridors, then the Theseus back-to-back duel against Minoan rivals, and finally Cercyon. Eurogamer describes the final fight as a duel to the death, but the detailed phase mechanics are not published in the sources we verified. The safe plan is the same as every boss: parry what you can, dodge the red attacks, and spend Focus when it is full.
Collectibles in Chapter 7
| Type | Name | How to get it | Missable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blade | Khopesh | Subchapter 2, The whole damn army. After the underground stretch, in the open area turn left at the bull pillar and solve the light puzzle to open the tomb. | No |
| Charm | Bead (4) | Approaching the Trial: inside the cave, past the light-beam gate, near the dying Sergio. | No, chapter select |
| Charm | Bead (5) | The beach: in a chest beside the wooden boat. | No, chapter select |
| Charm (Theseus Echo) | Pierced Coin (3) | Subchapter 3, A stage of skulls: past the locked green gate, after two grappling-hook points, interact with the Axe Chalice on the right. | No, chapter select |
| Resonance Point(s) | Uncounted | At least one sits by the rocks before the cave descent. Guides disagree on the exact chapter total (1 or 2), so collect every one you see. | Yes, checkpoint rule |
Sources disagree on the exact Resonance Point count: allthings.how's table lists one by the rocks, while Eurogamer lists two. Both agree the points are the only missable thing in the chapter, so treat every pickup as essential and do not die before the next checkpoint.
Missables and trophy notes
Chapter 7 feeds Plunderer (Khopesh), Adaptable (kill with the Khopesh), In the Name of my Kin (Pierced Coin 3) and Like a Warrior (the Resonance Points feed the 165 needed to max the tree). The Khopesh's damage-over-time perk makes it a reliable choice for the remaining trial fights.
Chapter 8, Resonance, is the story interlude with zero collectibles, so you can take a breath before the second half of the island.
FAQ
What order do I press the black temple skull buttons?
4th column (far right), 3rd column, 1st column (far left), then 2nd column. Use Reveal Light to see the sequence on the wall.
Where is the Khopesh Blade?
In Subchapter 2, The whole damn army. In the open area after the underground stretch, turn left at the bull pillar and solve the light puzzle to open the tomb.
How do I beat Cercyon?
The fight is a duel to the death. Parry the attacks you can, dodge the unblockable ones, and use the Focus Attack when the gauge fills. Guides describe Cercyon as the chapter's boss, without detailed phase mechanics published.
Are Chapter 7 collectibles missable?
Blades, Charms and Echoes are recoverable through chapter select. Only Resonance Points are missable, because they do not carry over through chapter select.
