What was confirmed, and when
Focus Entertainment lists the game on PC, PS5, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series, and the Game Pass entry was there from launch rather than added later. That makes Resonance a day-one Game Pass title rather than a game that arrives on the service months down the line.
In practice that means an Xbox Series owner with an active subscription could play from August 27, 2026 without buying anything, and the same applies to the PC version through PC Game Pass.
Which version you actually get
| Platform | On Game Pass? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes | Day one, included with the subscription tier that covers console |
| PC (Windows) | Yes | Via PC Game Pass — the same build that ships on Steam |
| PS5 | No | Sony consoles are not covered by Game Pass; buy on the PlayStation Store |
| Steam | No | Steam is a separate purchase; Game Pass on PC uses the Xbox app |
What happens when your subscription ends
This is the part people most often get caught by. A Game Pass title is licensed to you while you are subscribed — stop paying and the game stops launching, even though it is installed. Your save file is not deleted, so if you later buy the game outright the progress is still there.
Games also leave the service eventually. A first-party or day-one title usually stays a long time, but nothing on Game Pass is guaranteed forever.
Game Pass or buy it?
The game is $49.99 to buy, and a full playthrough is a one-to-two-month commitment for most people depending on how much of the collectible and trophy cleanup you do. If you are already paying for Game Pass for other reasons, there is no decision to make — just play it.
If you would be subscribing only for this game, run the maths on how long you will actually take. Finishing the story inside a single month is cheaper than buying. Stretching it across four months costs more, at which point buying is the better deal — and you keep it permanently, which matters if you ever want to replay chapters for the collectible trophies.
One more consideration: the Heritage Pack DLC is a separate purchase on top of whichever route you take, and it is not included with the Game Pass version.
Game Pass questions
Is Resonance on Game Pass?
Yes. It arrived on Xbox Game Pass on launch day, August 27, 2026, for both console and PC.
Is it on PC Game Pass too?
Yes — Focus lists the game across PC, PS5 and Xbox Game Pass, so the PC version is covered as well as console.
Do I need Game Pass Ultimate?
For console and PC access, the tier that includes both console and PC Game Pass is what you want. Check your region's current tier names, since Microsoft has renamed them more than once.
Do I keep the game if my subscription ends?
No. Game Pass titles are licensed while your subscription is active. If it lapses you lose access, and you would need to buy the game to keep playing — your save carries over to a purchased copy.
Is Game Pass cheaper than buying?
If you finish a campaign in a month or two, usually yes. The game is $49.99 to buy; a couple of months of subscription is less, provided you are not staying subscribed only for this.
Are the achievements the same on Game Pass?
Xbox achievements match the Steam set of 36. The PlayStation version has 37 trophies because it adds a Platinum, which Xbox does not have an equivalent for.
