Chapter 9 overview
Night Has Come is where the second half of the game begins. The chapter alternates between beast chases, palace exploration and the petrified corridors, then lands on the Faro fight. It also carries one of the highest-value Blade pickups: the Broken Spear.
Walkthrough by objective
| Objective | How to complete it |
|---|---|
| Escape the beast | The opening chase. Stay near the lights and keep moving. |
| Follow the lights to Minos' palace | Light the lanterns and braziers to clear the ash and avoid the beast. |
| Escape the beast again | A forced sprint section. Do not stop. |
| Explore the palace | The cutscene reveals Theseus was Princess Ariadne. The pedestal puzzle and Pierced Coin are here. |
| Cross the petrified area | Move fast to shift the petrified enemies, then stop when they settle. |
| Kill Faro | The chapter boss. Beat him to end the chapter and recover Sophia's book. |
Puzzles and survival mechanics
- Palace pedestal: place the sphere on the left pedestal in the pond room to trigger the illusion and collect the Pierced Coin.
- Petrified path: move fast to make the petrified enemies shift, then stand still to stop them, and advance between their freeze frames.
- Beast evasion: crouch or walk near light sources, hide behind rocks, and use jumps and tight squeezes to slow the beast down.
- Environment: use the grappling hook on wooden obstacles, take ziplines down, climb ladders and crawl through gaps, and light lanterns and braziers to clear ash and reveal the path.
Collectibles in Chapter 9
| Type | Name | How to get it | Missable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blade | Broken Spear | At the start, in the Follow the lights section, take the far left path up the rock platform and open the tomb under the bull pillar. It is the 7th of the 8 Blades. | No |
| Artefact (Relic of the Past) | Phosphate Ring | On the way to the palace, at one of the lanterns, crouch through the gap ahead and take the right opening to reach it. | No, chapter select |
| Charm (Theseus Echo) | Pierced Coin (4) | In the palace pond room, place the sphere on the left pedestal to trigger the illusion and collect the coin. A second Echo spot sits on a hidden balcony after breaking a pedestal to reveal light. | No, chapter select |
| Resonance Points | 5 spots | Throne (1), corridor crevice behind the throne (2), left of the pond room (1), right side of the petrified corpse room (1). One guide labels the total as 4 while listing 5 locations, so collect all of them. | Yes, checkpoint rule |
The Broken Spear's dash attacks pierce shields and blocks, which changes how you open fights. The Phosphate Ring is the easy one to miss because it needs a specific crouch path; the sources are explicit that the wrong opening skips it, though chapter select covers it.
Combat and the Faro boss
Expect soldiers on the palace path, at the cave end, under the bridge ruins and in a group at the zipline landing. The new threat is the reanimated petrified corpses: braziers repel them and crouching avoids waking them. The Faro fight is the second duel with him, and the chapter ends when you win and recover Sophia's book.
Missables and trophy notes
Chapter 9 feeds Plunderer (Broken Spear), Adaptable (kill with it), In the Name of my Kin (Pierced Coin 4) and Like a Warrior (Resonance Points). All items except the Resonance Points are recoverable through chapter select. The throne and corridor Resonance Points are the ones players report missing, so sweep those rooms before the Faro fight.
Chapter 10, Parallel Paths, follows with the mountain temple door puzzle, the Light Concentrate unlock and the final Blade, the Xiphos.
FAQ
Where is the Broken Spear?
In the Follow the lights section at the start, take the far left path up the rock platform and open the tomb under the bull pillar. Guides confirm it is the 7th of the 8 Blades.
How do I get the Phosphate Ring?
On the way to the palace, at one of the lanterns, crouch through the gap ahead and take the right opening. If you take the wrong opening you miss it, but chapter select lets you go back.
How do I beat Faro?
Use the Theseus ability and parry. Faro is the chapter boss and the second fight against him; guides confirm the parry-focused approach without publishing detailed phase mechanics.
How many Resonance Points are in Chapter 9?
Five locations by the sources we use: throne (1), corridor crevice (2), pond room left (1), petrified room right (1). One guide miscounts its own list as 4, so collect all five spots.
